When
Richard Ginn decided a career
change was in order, he decided not to do things by
halves.
In
the space of a few weeks Richard, 46, went from working
at prestigious London firm Linklaters, to being a Buddy
Holly tribute singer - and he is loving his alter ego
called Buddy G.
At
the moment, Richard, who lives in Lydden with his wife
and family, has left his demo tapes with several bars
and clubs, many of whom have expressed an interest and
has played various gigs including functions such
as weddings.
Richard
had to leave his work in London in 2003 because of medical
problems, but he has always had a love and a talent
for music, and his voice lent itself to the style of
Buddy Holly.

Richard
said: "I have always been exposed to music. I cannot
read it, I just play by ear. I do my routine to backing
music, but the singing is always live. When I left London
I tried everything to find another job, but I took my
demo tape to a bar in Folkestone and things took off
from there."
Naturally,
being a tribute act involves getting into the mind of
the performer, but transforming into Buddy Holly has
not been without it's setbacks. One factor requiring
major organisation for Richard, is having to dye his
hair black every time he has a performance coming up.
"The first time I tried it my hair went purple,"
he laughs.
But
the euphoria of appearing on stage suits Richard down
to the ground. His favourite song is "True Love
Ways" which, not surprisingly, is very popular
at weddings.
As
well as having several gigs lined up, Richard could
also be appearing on our screens soon, as he recently
auditioned for "The X-Factor"
